Smokefree Swindon

Tobacco Control Visioning Forum

Local stakeholders are invited to attend a forum and provide their feedback on future action to improve health through tobacco control in Swindon.

The forum will take place at Oakfield Campus on Wednesday 30 April.

For full details, including how to book your place, see: Tobacco Control Visioning Forum.

A Healthier England from 1 July 2007

On 1 July, England introduced a new law to make virtually all enclosed public places and workplaces in England smokefree. A smokefree England ensures a healthier environment, so everyone can socialise, relax, travel, shop and work free from secondhand smoke.

Members of the public who wish to report a breach of the new law should call 0800 587 1667.

For details of how the new smokefree legislation will affect your business and for local business support, please see Smokefree Business Support.

A New Opportunity

The Smokefree Swindon Partnership has the opportunity to now widen the Tobacco Control Agenda making Swindon a healthier place to live, work and visit further improving public health. People, who choose not to smoke and those who cannot choose, perhaps because they are too young to object, will eventually be protected from second hand tobacco smoke.

The smokefree Swindon Partnership has the task of ensuring that all the organisations in Swindon who can support this work do so, and are supported themselves. Visit the Smokefree Partnership page for more information.

The Future Really is Smokefree

We hope that you will find the site easy to use and useful too.

Do visit regularly as we shall be updating pages, and adding information, especially in light of the smokefree legislation.
